Police ID 53-Year-Old Fatally Struck By Car In Amityville

Police have identified a 53-year-old man who was fatally struck by a car on Long Island earlier this week.

Russell Squires, of North Amityville, was identified as the bicyclist who died in the crash on Route 110 in Amityville on the night of Monday, Dec. 26, the Suffolk County Police Department said.

He was riding a bicycle from west to east across Route 110 near Ritter Avenue when a northbound 2009 Toyota Camry struck him at about 11:10 p.m., police said.

SCPD said Squires was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota, a 22-year-old resident of Amityville, was not injured in the crash, police said.
